The World Health Organization (WHO) defines addiction as an uncontrollable urge to consume a substance (alcohol or drugs) and a tendency to increase the dose, resulting in a psychological and sometimes physical dependency. The continuation of the abusive use of substances has adverse effects on the physical, emotional, social and economic health of individuals and their families.
The Ottawa Withdrawal Management Centre offers a range of services to help individuals struggling with a substance abuse problem. We offer non-medical withdrawal management services in a respectful and safe residential environment.
The individual receives help to make changes in their use of substances, in order to reduce the negative effects on their health.
