Addiction Definition
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines addiction as an uncontrollable urge to consume a substance (alcohol or drugs) and a tendency to increase the dose, resulting in a psychological and sometimes physical dependency. The continuation of the abusive use of substances has adverse effects on the physical, emotional, social and economic health of individuals and their families.
