Court Assistance and Diversion Program

This program aims to support the courts in their efforts to redirect francophone individuals dealing with the courts and living with a mental health problem towards appropriate services instead of detention centres.

This program aims to support the courts in their efforts to redirect francophone individuals dealing with the courts and living with a mental health problem towards appropriate services instead of detention centres. Our services are offered in both the community and within a prison environment. They provide links to a comprehensive system of services and mental health support, especially to emergency or crisis services, such as contingency beds, as well as intensive case management and housing support. Practitioners work in collaboration with key stakeholders in the criminal justice as well as in health and social services. Support to family members and a support network are also available.

These services are aimed at improving the mental health status and the progress of each person, reducing recidivism and hospitalization related to mental health problems, reducing the burden on the criminal justice system and improving access to mental health services.
